You received a message through Perlata

Perlata delivers messages on behalf of organisations and records whether they arrived, to whom and when. What the message says is decided by the sender; we seal every event as it joins the record and anchor that record externally every hour, so that what happened can be checked afterwards rather than argued about. This page is here in case you are wondering whether the message you received really comes from us.

Why you received this

An organisation asked us to deliver a message to you. That sender chose you as the recipient, gave us your address and decides what the message says. Their name is in the message you received.

Questions about the contents, about why you received it, or requests to correct or remove your data belong with that sender rather than with us. We carry out their instruction.

How to tell a message really comes from us

A message announcing that post is waiting for you is exactly the shape that gets abused. Five things that tell the difference.

  • A message from us comes from an address ending in @perlata.eu. In the link, look at the part just before the first slash: it should read perlata.eu.
  • We never ask you for a password, for a payment, for a national identity login, or for a copy of your identity document.
  • The mail with your code never contains a link. If you receive a code with a link beside it, it is not from us.
  • We do not phone you to ask for a code. Nobody here ever has a reason to know it.
  • In doubt? Type perlata.eu into your browser yourself instead of following the link, and use the address at the bottom of this page.

What we record, and that you can check it

For every delivery we record what happened: when the message was offered, when you collected it and what was established in the process. The record is made so that a later change shows, including to us.

If it comes to a dispute, the sender has an evidence package. That package can be checked with ordinary tools, by you or by somebody you ask, without us in the room.

And what the record does not establish, said just as plainly: it records that the content was released to you, not that you read it. The same goes for who you are, unless the level of identification that was reached says so.

What happens to your data

We process your name and address, the message with any attachments, and the record of the delivery itself. All of it stays within the European Union, in Frankfurt, and personal data is stored encrypted.

The sender is responsible for this data and we process it on their instruction. To have it corrected or removed, address them. Our privacy statement, linked at the bottom of every page, sets out exactly what we record, for how long, and what removal means here.

If you are stuck

Write to [email protected]. You do not need to log in anywhere and a person answers. If you cannot open the message, or something about the link looks wrong, we would rather hear it once too often than once too rarely.
